THEIR ROLES: Ed Young is senior pastor; Jo Beth Young teaches a Bible study class.

THEIR FAMILY: The Youngs have three sons. Ed (wife Lisa) is founding pastor of Fellowship Church in Grapevine, Texas, and in Miami, Florida; Ben is an associate pastor at Second Baptist; and Cliff (wife Danielle) is lead singer of the Christian contemporary band Caedmon’s Call. The Youngs have ten grandchildren.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH: The church is proud of its Second Baptist School, a pre-K through grade 12 college preparatory school founded in 1946. Its graduates include many National Merit Scholars, and its sports teams have won twenty-one state championships in eight sports. They have many other community outreach programs and are known in Houston for their services for Christian singles.

ON THE NATIONAL STAGE: Ed Young was president of the Southern Baptist Convention in 1992 and 1993. His TV ministry, The Winning Walk, is televised nationally.
